What is Nrityoga®?
Nrityoga® also known as “Yoga of Dance“, is a fusion of “ancient Indian philosophies of Yoga, Sacred Dance, Mudras & Meditation techniques“. Created by Amrita Choudhury to help all people, no matter their backgrounds, to benefit and experience a “Blissful union of the body, mind, & soul!“
About Amrita Choudhury
Amrita Choudhury brings more than 35 years of international experience in teaching and performance. Born in India, she travels globally offering workshops and performances. Amrita was educated in Santiniketan (Abode of Peace) India, where the yogic arts were an integral part of education & everyday life.
Amrita specializes in Indian Classical, folk, Bollywood and Indian Modern dance traditions. She is the founder of NRITYOGA® – Yoga of Dance, a discipline that combines multiple paths of Yoga/meditation and sacred dance, for healing and well being. Her expertise also lie in Mudras, and Yogic philosophy, related to the healing arts of ancient India.
As a professional dancer and choreographer, she has presented her dance productions internationally and continues to offer unique collaborations.
Amrita uses movement as a therapeutic tool for healing and has worked in health institutions with medical professionals. Her Yoga and dance work is greatly influenced by the Tantric, Vaishnava and the Bhakti traditions.
Some of her notable presentations are TED Talks, CBC Television, History Channel, and multiple dance and yoga conferences.
Amrita carries a degree in Anthropology, and is a respected Dance & Yoga researcher, and teacher. She believes that dance and yoga in all it’s forms are ancient philosophies of life in graceful motion; accessible to all.
Amrita feels blessed to be carrying onwards the wisdom of her ancestral lineages to the world community.

Energetic Anatomy

Explore the mysteries of the yogic energy anatomy and learn how the Pranic body holds the wisdom of one’s true being.
Amrita will guide you through the multiple layers (Kosha’s), and offer you insight into the world of Chakras from the ancient Indian Yogic perspective. All aspects of Yoga including Hatha Yoga, is dependent on how the different aspects of one’s energy body is in harmony and balance with one’s practice and existence in this world.
Designed for all levels; whether you are a beginner, an advanced practitioner or have never practiced yoga, this class will offer you a glimpse into magical workings of your own energy body.

Healing through Yoga Mudras

Mudra Vigyan is the science of healing through Mudras, using sacred hand positions. Each finger represents the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Ether. Touching upon the hundreds of nerve endings which influence the whole body at the cellular and atomic level; this practice nourishes the body, mind & spirit, and aids in healing.
Dive deep into this meditation/visualization practice, in order to connect to your own inner wisdom, and the power of well being. Amrita will guide you through various mudras in combination with pranayama, mantras, & visualization techniques, leading to a state of deep rest and serenity.

Prana Shakti Meditation Flow @ Soma Yoga Shala

Dive deep into this healing meditation practice; connect with your inner wisdom, your power of Inner prana (life force), and the guidance of ancient yogic Shakti philosophies that manifest all these aspects within you.
Amrita will guide you through various layers of the energetic body(Koshas), layers of Pranas, in combination of Shakti mantras, & visualization techniques, leading to a state of empowerment and deep rest.
