Hatha Yoga & Watsu Practitioner
Summer Greenlees is a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor with twenty-five years of experience. In 1997, Summer completed a two-year apprenticeship Yoga teacher training program in Austin and obtained her massage therapy license in 1998. Using the combined modalities of Yoga and Massage enhances and deepens her holistic approach as an instructor.
At age nineteen, Summer apprenticed with her first Yoga teacher. Subsequently, she immersed herself in Advanced Yoga Studies with renowned expert Donna Farhi. Summer is grateful to have had the honor to assist Donna as a senior assistant when teaching locally in Austin. Furthering her community service in health and wellness, Summer supported families during childbirth preparation, birth, and postpartum for twelve years as a Doula, incorporating Yoga and Massage Therapy to assist with childbearing.
As a professional Massage Therapist and Yoga Instructor, Summer has completed thousands of hours of study and many certification programs. Her extensive studies have refined her knowledge of anatomy and alternative healing methods, such as Acupressure, Shiatsu, Ashiatsu, Watsu, Healing Dance, Bodywork for the Childbearing Year, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Functional Yoga Therapy, and Reiki.
Having worked as a full-time professional massage therapist and yoga instructor for over 20 years, in addition to the modalities listed above, her certifications also include:
- Reiki III
- Bodywork for the Childbearing Year
- Advanced Yoga Studies with Donna Farhi
- Massage Doula
- Infant Massage Instructor
- Massage Therapy Instructor
- Functional Yoga Therapy
- Watsu 1 and 2

Currently, Summer is attending Donna Farhi’s Yoga Teacher Training program for the second time. She also continues her studies with Yoga Instructor Amrita Choudhury in Mudra Vigan and Nrityoga®. Summer continues her WATSU training by attending courses when offered in Austin, once or twice a year.
Summer‘s intimate understanding of the human body has been cultivated through years of dedication to study and practice in the field of health and wellness. She brings the richness of her experience working with hundreds of massage therapy and childbirth clientele to complement her yoga instruction. Summer delights in applying her wellness insights, practices, tools, and techniques, which always refer back to and confirm the ancient, healing wisom that yoga offers. She is a gentle guide, sharing resources and inviting students to explore their own self-discovery.
Summer believes a personal yoga practice can allow her students more clarity and focus. Yoga helps to prevent injuries and heals tension, as well as improves posture and quality of movement. Yoga empowers and transforms us. Practice, essentially, is treating yourself to the gift of self-care. Ease of breath, better balance, and stress relief, the consistent practice also promotes strength, flexibility, healthy range of motion, and improves circulation.
Integrative and therapeutic, Summer’s classes focus on harmonizing mind, body, and nature. Offering an individualized approach, Summer assists her students in their building skills so that movements are safely and mindfully practiced. Summer supports her students to feel more refreshed, more grounded, and more open. Each student feels as if they have received a lovely, gentle, full-body therapeutic massage.
Though Summer still maintains her license as an L.M.T., she no longer offers massage therapy, aside from providing Aquatic Bodywork as a Watsu practitioner.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Summer is at home in the Hill Country. She is truly blessed to be the mother of three: a 25-year-old, a 16-year-old, and a 9-year-old.
