Summer Greenlees, LMT

Summer Greenlees is a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor with twenty-five years of experience. In 1997, Summer became certified as a Yoga Instructor, and she obtained her massage therapy license in 1998. Using the combined modalities of Yoga and Massage enhances and deepens her holistic approach.

At age nineteen, during her first pregnancy, Summer discovered Yoga through Prenatal Yoga with Austin Toga teacher Shannon Potts. Summer apprenticed with Shannon for two years to learn to teach Hatha, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga. Subsequently, she immersed herself in Advanced Yoga Studies with renowned expert Donna Farhi. Summer is grateful to have had the honor to assist Donna as a senior assistant when teaching locally in Austin. Summer has completed Donna’s Teacher Training Certification program twice, once in 2007, and again in 2022. The emphasis of this Yoga Certification program is unique in that it is strongly centered on an inquiry-based, embodied somatic approach that integrates developmental movement repatterning, and embodied anatomy, with deeply therapeutic, meditative, and Restorative Hatha Yoga practices and the study and practice of the Eight limbs of Yoga.

Summer is currently a dedicated student online with Amrita Choudhury and her practice of Nrityoga and Mudra Vigyan, and she is engaged in continued online learning with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in Embodied Anatomy studies.

Summer supported families during childbirth preparation, birth, and postpartum for twelve years as a Doula, incorporating Yoga and Massage Therapy, and repatterning to assist with childbearing, Postpartum, and Motherhood. Summer received “Best Massage Therapist” Award from the Austin Birth Awards in 2013 for her work as a Prenatal and Postnatal Massage Therapist. The Star Doula training that Summer received Doula Certification from was unique in that it Incorporated Massage Therapy, Breathwork, Rebirthing, Secure Attatchment education and practices, Holistic Parenting practices, Color and Aroma Therapy, Infant Massage Instruction, Water Birth, Rebirthing and Breathwork in water, in therapy temperature pools.

In 2010, Summer discovered Watsu and Aquatic Bodywork and fell in love with this powerful and beautiful modality which brings together elements of each aspects of Summer’s life’s work and study. Developmental movement repatterning, embodied anatomy and fluid pattern awareness and support, Rebirthing, Yoga and Bodywork, Prenatal Support, Nrityoga, Breathwork, Shiatsu, Meditation, Trauma healing, unity with the power of Naure, all of these elements are present in Summer’s practice of Watsu, and Aquatic Yoga and Bodywork.
