Spring begins & Watsu Returns

Watsu is an aquatic therapy modality which is one of Summer Greenlees’ favorite therapies that she offers at private pools in the Austin TX area. Watsu has roots in Shiatsu and is based on the breath; it is a deeply meditative healing aquatic bodywork.

Watsu is a therapy that you receive, like regular massage therapy, you just relax and receive the therapy.

Watsu relieves stress & tension and allows for unwinding the subconscious mind’s troubles while floating in warm water.

Watsu Therapy Is Making a Comeback

In Austin the pools are beginning to open for Watsu as we enter spring. It’s a great time to experience Watsu for the first time or to return to it for the healing benefits it offers.

In this recent article from Condé Nast Traveler, they explore what it’s like to experience Watsu.

Unlike a table massage or a motionless flotation tank experience, says Stackus, the water element of Watsu facilitates movement. “The stretching is less of a conscious thing—you get out of your head.” And it’s especially relevant in today’s information-abundant, touch-deprived reality: “With the constant engagement we’re experiencing from the outside in, people have a greater need to reconnect with themselves,” he says. “Many guests tear up, and that’s perfectly acceptable.”
